Chicago Cubs @Wrigley Field

Chicago Cubs vs Los Angeles Dodgers @ Wrigley Field May 31 2016

This was only my third trip to Wrigley.  1984..1990..2016

My first MLB Game Experience was here @ Wrigley in 1984.  Chicago Cubs vs San Diego Padres.  Steve Garvey & Tony Gwynn were playing then for Padres.  My dad was a Cubs fan & I liked the Padres so he brought us.  I remember waiting over two hours outside the players entrance to get Garvey and Gwynns Autographs, BUT, they never showed.  Because of our waiting we missed our Amtrak Train ride home and had to ride The Greyhound Bus.  The Train ticket was already paid for and the bus not paid for.  We got whoppers at the bus station to eat on the bus ride home I recall.  I don’t recall all the details but I think the Padres won 6-3 ?  Maybe.  Haha.

This game was a rain delay & I am glad it did eventually start.  Kershaw did come out & throw some pitches but it was raining & he didn’t throw too many.  The crowd in the stands around him wouldn’t allow me close enough to get a photo & he was gone quickly before I got to the other end of the Stadium after seeing him out throwing.

Indiana State Museum Indianapolis

The Indiana State Museum

The Indiana State Museum

This is a Night time Long Exposure of The Indiana State Museum.  This was a Long Exposure taken @ six seconds.  The aperture was f/9 and the ISO 800 and Focal Length 18mm on a Full Frame Nikon Digital Camera.  Now you might wonder why I used an ISO of 800 as opposed to my normal ISO of 50.  Well I was trying to get some of the stars in the sky above which need higher ISO’s.  Had I of used a lower ISO I would have also had to of used a longer shutter speed.  I had to keep the aperture @ f/9 for maximum detail and depth of field.  But this was a long shot because I was in the city and as with cities too many lights.  But I did get a few stars.  The Lens is a Tokina 17-35mm f/4 Pro FX.  Some people refuse to use Third part lenses but this Tokina Lens is excellent.  I use it for all my wide angle shots.  I’m even thinking of getting the Samyang 14mm f/2.8, which I have heard is masterful as I would say of the photos taken with it.  It like Zeiss is full manual but the Zeiss and Nikon wider focal lengths are four times as much or more than the Samyang.

The Indiana State Museum is located in White River State Park @ 801 West Washington Street.  Along The Canal Walk in Downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.  Along with The NCAA Hall of Champions Museum and NCAA Headquarters.  As well as The Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial which pays tribute to Great American Heroes.  Built and Dedicated in 1999.   there is a series of turquoise like glass walls and they represent the conflicts that have resulted in Medal of Honor awards for bravery.  They individual list each recipient.

St. Louis Missouri Gateway Arch

St. Louis Missouri Gateway Arch

St. Louis Missouri Gateway Arch

This is The St. Louis Missouri Gateway Arch during an August Sunrise.  I arrived at the park at about 0600 hours and parked.  The parking garage looked shady so i called the police to check on the safety of the neighborhood, I did not want to walk back to Indy, hahahaha, not that it could not happen but it is always to be safer than sorry.  They told me it should be ok at that hour.  I then walked to the St. Louis Gateway Arch Park and started shooting once I got the light I wanted.  In This photo The Mississippi River is to the left side and the Capitol to the right.  I stepped back into the trees and pulled out my 70-200mm and took this shot.  It is one of my personal favorites of The St. Louis Gateway Arch.  The Arch does not open until 1000 hours and I was not about to just sit there for four more hours.  I wanted the sunrise and got it.  I went back the next afternoon and evening for more shots with different light.

The structure itself is a beauty. of design.  You enter kinda by going underground first through waves of security.  Then there is a gift shop and other things inside.  They also have a replica of the cart that goes to the top so one may observe its dimensions before they attempt the two to three minute ride to the top.  It had four or five seats inside of the lift but they were cramped.  I would have loved to go to the top but at almost three minutes fully loaded NO WAY !  Even empty and alone I could not do the time to the top.  But many others do, so you will have to ask them about it.

Have a Great Night !!  🙂

The above two photos are of The Milwaukee, Wisconsin Skyline and Milwaukee Museum of Art.  The Black and White version is a Fine Art Print and The Color is just a regular print.  The photos of the skyline and museum are early morning and if you know anything about Milwaukee it is FOGGY.  The fog rolled in and out ALL day.  So I was very lucky to get these views.  The Photos were taken from a little cafe near the museum and crunched between the Milwaukee Museum of Art and Discovery World, fully accessible to the public.    The photos were also taken pre 10 a.m.  This is known because the “wings” on the museum are not open or fully extended.  Weather permitting The Massive Wings or fins expand or open up looking like a whales tale.  The Milwaukee Museum of Art itself looks like a yacht. When viewed from all angles you can see the idea of it.  The windows on the bottom by the water above that looks like flaps well those flaps are what open.  They raise up.  The Museum is a beautiful Structure and design.  I would also like to Thank The Milwaukee Museum of Art for my Military Discounted FREE Pass !!  Personally after being treated with such eye candy views and design of the structure and architecture the art inside was underwhelming, for me at least.

The bottom two photos are of Miller Park, which is Home of The Milwaukee Brewers MLB Team.  This “park” is HUGE.  I mean GINORMOUS !! And very elegant and beautiful in both essence and design.  The fans like most places are very approachable and talkative and friendly like most places in the midwest.  If you love baseball and architecture you will love this Park.  I use to think that Busch Stadium Home of The St. Louis Cardinals had the most magnificent stadium, now i think they have some serious competition.  The weather forecast was suppose to drop some rain but lightning did not show up until the ninth inning in a tie game.  The roof opens and closes on this stadium in about 10 minutes.  They were telling me that if it had of rained and they would have closed the roof that the building itself turns into a “Hot Box”, “Sauna” when closed.  No air conditioning, unless you are in the 300 club area or suite.  The food like most ballparks in the MLB is very tasty.

On this trip it was only two days.  Day one was travel which was to North Chicago and four hours from Indy.  In North Chicago which is an hour from Milwaukee is where we stayed in our hotel.  The Naval Station Great Lakes Naval Base in North Chicago.  Day two was all spent in Milwaukee looking around and doing things.  I asked a local girl where should I eat and she recommended Real Chili.  So I went.  It looked kinda like a dive but very clean and the Chili I had resembled Steak n Shake but BETTER, WAY BETTER.  They have been open since 1931 and Steak n Shake opened I think in 1934.  If you have ever been to West Lafayette Indiana, aka Purdue University, they have a diner called XXX.  The chili there is different than what I got at Real Chili but both places serve EXCELLENT Chili.  So if you want quality Chili in Indiana you do not have to go to Milwaukee, hahahaha.

So I hope you enjoyed my photos and words, say something if you like ?

This was another day trip with the family this time we headed to Cincinnati, Ohio for a Cincinnati Reds Baseball game.  The above photo is of Great American Ballpark Home of The Cincinnati Redlegs MLB team.  The Park is rather small compared to other MLB parks and therefore is also known as “Great American Smallpark”.  Its a beautiful stadium and experience.  Not a bad seat in the park.  The difference between MLB Stadiums and NFL Stadiums is seating.  A lot of NFL Stadium have so called “bad seats” with obstructed views.  I have never been to an MLB Park and had a “bad seat”.  The bottom photo is of a Blue Bridge as seen from the Ballpark overlook.  Across the bridge is Covington, KY.

Chicago Trump Tower

Chicago Trump Tower

I took these photos on a recent trip to Chicago.  I chose to do just a one day trip so time was sensitive.  My family and I had gone to A Chicago White Sox Game earlier and Thanks to The Chicago White Sox for the Military Tickets.  Great seats, Game, Stadium, and food experience !!  The Black & White photo above is an HDR (High Dynamic Range) photo of the Bean.  The one on the bottom is just a lighted photo of the Bean.  This was a Saturday and traffic was not so bad.  No long lines or anything, probably because of the Jazz Fest, haha.  The Trump Building is Trump Tower Chicago I think.  It was built in 2008 but The Trump Letters were not added until recently 2014.  The city of Chicago approved letters which were much larger but Trump went smaller and is still getting grief.  I like them.

The Ballpark is US Cellular Field home of The Chicago White Sox MLB sports team.
